i work for a long term mananged care provider . we manage care of people over the age of 21 and have a long term illness. I assist a nurse case manager in providing these services.
i am assigned to 2 nurses each have 70 mbr , which means all together i have to do things for 114 patients.
my problem is that 1 nurse who i work with seems to have a problem. Everytime a lil issue occurs with one of the member which are not big issues, she talks to me as if i am inferior to her. I have written a complaint b/f to my supervisor, but no changes were made. Yesterday once again she came up to me and screamed at me, like as if was a child. This is the third times she does it and i became defensive. I wrote a complaint once again to my supervisor , but did not receive a reply. what should i do about this if she is behaving younger than me. I am only 24 and she is 45 . please advise , what should be my next step.I feel like i am going to snap one day

Apparently she feels threatened by you and some women can be real B*tches .

You don't want to be caught with starting violence in the workplace . If you have brought it to the attention to the manager , bring it to the attention of the person who sits above her and file a formal complaint with HR about being harassed by this employee.

This is a tough one -- I have had trouble with people talking down to me because of my age (I'm around your age). The best thing I can do is just keep conducting myself professionally. The real truth is that people who put you down like that only do it beacuse they feel like they are inferior to you, so they have to "prove" that they're better by being rude. Is there a way you can stand up for yourself, without starting a fight? You could also try to just avoid her as much as possible. Also, you could try talking with your boss instead of filing written complaints. Spoken words often work best. Good luck!!

Listen there is a chain of command , if you have written a complaint concerning her (twice a believe ) I hope that you kept copies to that extent ( hint). Anyway, go over your supervisor head to her supervisor, concerning whatever the issues are , in the meantime you have to stand your ground with this lady and let her know that she can not speak to you in a matter that she wishes, she needs to know that this is no longer acceptable to you and that you will not tolerate this any longer and if she continues that it will be dealt with. (smile). Please remember that if you write a complaint , KEEP A COPY FOR YOURSELF , put the date that you wrote it and the date that you gave it to your immediate supervisor. I hope that this helps you with your issues.

Stay calm with her, but tell you understand the issue and what you are doing to resolve it. Dont yell back, that is just playing her game. Go directly to you supervisor, schedule a meeting with them alone explaining what is going on. If it doesnt get resolved are you ready to walk away?

I would just say something snotty like "Barbara, I'm busy right now and I don't have time for your childish antics. When you can speak to me like an adult, then I'll make time for you, but until then, GET BACK TO WORK!"

lol

(and yes, I was making up the name. lol) The problem is that she probably does see you as inferior due to age, but you need to get strict with her. Become a b*tch if you have to.
