I don't know. The transition from hair pulling caveman to chivalrous knight is a complete blur to me.

The knight literature came around the 11th to 15th centuries. But the funny think about all this chivalry is they didn't believe in hitting women because they were considered to be weaker, not fairer.

So to hit a woman was simply unsportsmanlike.
