I am studying American culture and I will be writing my thesis about Chicago soon. Could you recomend me some good books (not guidebooks) about Chicago, novels that take place in Chicago and movies if you know any.

The Studs Lonigan trilogy by James T. Farrell:

Young Lonigan
The Young Manhood of Studs Lonigan
Judgement Day

There are 2 movies, both entitled Studs Lonigan. The first was a 1960 theatrical release, the second a 1979 TV miniseries.
