I find it appalling that the "Anna Nicole" story, and the seal protest, and other so-called important issues make top headlines in the news, while the rape and murder of a 14 year old Afghan girl and her family, by US soldiers (what heroes...) isn't even listed...(it was earlier today, but for some odd reason isn't even on the page anymore). What the heck has America come to? How the heck are we supposed to "win the war" when the people that are "fighting" it are doing such horrific things to innocent people? And why aren't we more concerned about this? People from Afghanistan are PEOPLE just like you and me. Why aren't we doing more about this? Why does it seem like this doesn't matter anymore? How can we stop this? And why are the soldiers getting away with less than 10 years in prison? If that girl was Canadian or American, it would have been LIFE IN PRISON!!! Come on people!

well, a seal protest is pretty important to me because i am an ecologist and environmentalist. but the anna nicole story over a girl's rape is pretty ridiculous. i agree with you that the media needs to re-evaluate its integrity. instead of showing us worthless crap, why not show us what's ACTUALLY going on in the world!
i had no idea that there even was a girl raped by u.s. soldiers! i feel horrible for that girl. that makes me really mad that that story hasn't hit the front page of the news yet.

Yes this is disturbing. But there is always good and bad in people no matter what race, what gender or what position you may have. The news media need to get a handle on this Anna Nichole, gets pres dent over everything else. I'm not speaking bad of the dead, but this woman had loose morals, apparently all her life. So what is the world coming to? And yes it is a sad case, but when you play around with fire you always get burned. You will put your brain cell to sleep. Perhaps she couldn't go on with life after losing Daniel. Let this be a lesson learned! Life in prison is what is deserved or death!

I agree that the rape and murder of a 14 yr old girl and her family is important news. I also believe that the sentence was light. After all, these men are also "ambassadors on the ground" for our country and their actions debase all of us. I would like to point out that this story was running long before Anna Nicole died. I certainly saw a great deal of coverage of it.
Newer stories take precedence, otherwise we would get stuck on a handful of stories. I missed the seal protest, though I would have liked to have seen it. Raising awareness about environmental and ecological issues is important to all of us, including Afghans, so you can't act as if it is not worthy of coverage.
Mind you, I take issue with your examples, not your sentiment.

First off, just because there was a story, briefly, of something doesn't make it true. Maybe it disappeared because they discovered it was false.
Secondly, and more importantly, many people are just completely exhausted of all the atrocities started by George Bush. We can't stand to hear about them anymore. We are all suffering from post traumatic stress for what he has put this country through for no particular reason in some cases. Yes, it is sad, but people just get exhausted of hearing nothing but bad news for a bad cause.

I even have study all the solutions to this question, and a few are rather good. notwithstanding, as a mom, no punishment could be sufficient for my area if any pig like that positioned his filthy palms on my daughter. an prolonged time in the past there became into slightly information in "nos ildonya" mag. It became right into some rapist who had raped and murdered over 20 women people and ladies in Iran. formerly putting the pig in a public sq. for all to work out, the guy became into became over to the victims' families to do despite they extremely joyful to him. That became into honest punishment, even however no longer something could rather positioned out the hearth raging interior the hearts of those people or could appease and convenience the victims of rape. in my opinion, i could flow after the pig myself and to hell with the so called justice device. curiously "justice" is basically utilized in case you're black, unfavorable, Muslim or from the different marginalized minority. and people relatively theory that Hitler became into lifeless. HA!

It is true, the media picks which news threads they want to publish. At the last minute, even on the evening news, they will bump one story in favor of another, more exciting "breaking" news. Uncomfortable subjects don't stay on very long, most people don't want to be upset and will turn off the news. It's all about the ratings and money.
