My friend has just turn 13 today. Since she left my school we haven't really kept in touch. We weren't like best friends but were real close. Her father just dies today. How should I be a good friend to her? How do I let her know that I'm here for her? Will she resent me because we aren't best friends? Do I have a right to be upset even though he isn't my father and I haven't known him that much? Please help me be the best friend I can be at a time like this.

It sounds like you really care about your friend. I would suggest just letting her know that you are there if she needs to talk, and maybe in a week or so, ask her if she wants to hang out with you and some friends. Just let her know you are there, but don't push. Everybody grieves in their own way. Even if she doesn't take you up on your offer to talk or hang out, she will know in the back of her mind that you care, and that will mean something to her.

Tell her that you're there for her, and if she needs a shoulder to cry on, you'll be there.
You have a right to be upset, because your friend is upset. Maybe this is just me, but when my friends are upset, I pick up on that too.
Don't push her if she doesn't want to be close to you right now though. She might want to be by herself right now.
But check up on her every once in a while. She'll realize how much you care, even if she needs to have some time alone.

Sure sounds like you miss your friend. You should go see her and tell her how sorry you are and that you are sad too that her dad died.Tell her you really want to stay in touch because you miss her. Be there for her now and in the future. She will need someone to talk to. Just be the good friend that seem to be.

Send her a nice card or call her and tell her that you are there for her.
