I am female, 5'2, weigh 123 pounds. My BMI is fine but my body fat percentage is high. All the websites I can find say I should lose between 10 an 20 pounds. I wear size 4/6 clothes. What do you think?

Probably you should lose some weight, but it depends on your build. I'm 5'4 and I weigh 105... 123 would be chunky on me. You should go more by body fat percentage than BMI. it's much more accurate.

What is your body fat percentage? Because a lot of sites give out different info as to what is healthy and what isn't. There are no clear government guidelines to what is a healthy body fat percentage at present, although most experts agree that over 22%-25% body fat is too high for a male and over 30%-33% is too high for a female.

Also, sometimes it's a case of having too little muscle mass, rather than too much body fat, in which case you need to start strength training to build up more lean mass.

I'm also 5ft2 and 120lb. I'm a size 6-8 and have 25% body fat. If you weigh more than me but are a smaller clothes sizes, I'm sure you don't have a higher body fat percentage than I do and 25% body fat for a female is fine.

You don't need to lose any weight, but you need to lose the fat. The only way to do that is by cardio exercise and by toning exercises in the areas the fat is in. After you have been doing those exercises, the fat should tone down and your weight will naturally stablize.

Size 4/6 in clothes is small.

The answer depends on the way you like for your body to look. I would stick to the healthy BMI, otherwise you are going to have to work hard to accomplish loosing weight like extra exercise or extra dieting. But I know what you are talking about, I am the same height, and I used to weight 120, but I didn't appreciate it. I thought I looked chubby, but I hope you are wiser and just love the way you are cause you are healthy.
