Terrorists' visions tend more toward destroying those people w lifestyles they oppose than to building anything enduring.

As for the US building an empire.....I don't see it !! When was the last time we added a state to this union (50 years ago) ?

When was the last time we acquired or claimed a territory or protectorate as our own?

well, he is certainly jumping to conclusions. There are many theories behind terrorism, I tend to see it more of a reaction to U.S foreign policy, rather than an attempt to establish an empire.

Cheney is out and now wants to rally foreign governments and people around the American cause, if his support is declining in the U.S, why not find it abroad.
