I prefer tote bags....I can stuff everything in it and with purses it's annoying because they tend to fall off my shoulder.....

I prefer totes. With a tote bag, you can have your hands free at all times because they're big enough to carry a lot more stuff. You can put your magazines, books, etc. in a tote bag. And I think they're more stylish, as well (if you get the right one).

To be completely honest, I think a purse and a tote/backpack is a GREAT idea. Here's why: 1. Teachers will give lots of homework which require taking books home. Imagine trying to squeeze 2 or 3 books in your cute bag. And if you have expensive taste, I'm sure you wouldn't want to stretch that Louis Vuitton bag! :) 2. If you wear makeup, imagine having to ask your teacher every class period to go to the restroom and check your makeup. Or what happens if you have an unexpected cry? Your tissues are in your backpack which is in you locker instead of being with you at your desk. 3. Girl problems. Enough said. 4.A bag is more convenient. Say your friends decide to go out after school. With a bag, you can just leave. Without one, you have to go back inside the school (if some of your classes are outside the main building) to your locker and get what you need. Just a few things, hope I helped! :)

My purses are as small as possible. My favorite is one my husband calls my pencil case. It's big enough for cigs, lighter, Chapstick and my wallet, which is all I ever carry. And I don't use shoulder straps because I have a funny shoulder and it would start to hurt after a while. I tuck them under my arm.
My tote bag, however, is fairly large. I need it to carry my shoes and all the papers I shuffle back and forth from home to office.

I like both! Purses mostly though. I have several that stay on my shoulder good. YOu just have to find one with the right straps.

purse with a long strap, easier to wear when you put around your shoulders.... if that makes sense.
