Truly, I think that unless you are a Southerner, you really cannot appreciate our traditions and slower pace way of life. I believe many think that anyone from the South is either a " cowboy" or a "redneck" or " racist". While we certainly have some ownership there, we don't have the exclusive rights. Each section of the country has its own little quirks and blemishes ; the South is certainly no different. As for me, I'm proud to be from the South and cannot imagine living anywhere else.

Because people have it in their heads that Southerners are all hicks or less educated than the rest of us. Where that comes from, I don't know. I don't live in the south but my impression of the people I know from the southern states has been very positive. They tend to have better manners and they are just more openly friendly.

Because many southern people are racist and discriminate people of other cultures, including Europeans, Indians, Blacks...*maybe you aren't, but alot are!*
Not to mention the fact that a vast majority of animal abuse happens in the southern regions of the U.S...that's definately not funny or normal.
Just my two cents.

Because one southern tradition was to hang people for the color of their skin and burn crosses on their lawns. Another one a little farther back was to own them like cattle.
Joke all you want, but some people don't think stuff like that was funny.

Most people don't like change. And they don't
want change. But that's up to them enjoy yourself
and I'll enjoy myself. I love to do different things.

Yep, jellied eels, pie and mash with green liquor, pearly Kings and Queens - the south's traditions are the best.

Some of your traditions are weird. Don't forge that in the 60s, your tradition was to lynch blacks and burn crosses.
