You do not get a bartenders license, you generally have to take a class aimed at the effects of alcohol, and how to spot someone that has drank too much, and the laws regarding over pouring, and serving minors. You can go to a bartenders class to learn how to make drinks, how to increase your tips, but no license. Contact your state's liquor control board, they will be able to steer you in the right direction. My first bartending job was an on the job training type of situation. I had to take the class in order to serve, but other than that, I just learned day to day about the workings of the bar and the management side of restaurant/bar work.

You actually dont need a license....you need a tam card. Which basically allows you to serve/sell alcohol and tobacco products. You take like a couple hour class with a quiz at the end once you pass the quiz you get your card. Its like 50 bucks at most maybe more (depending where you live i assume). All the class tells you like how many drinks one person is allowed to have in front of them......how to tell if an id is a fake....the rules on carding individuals and how to tell if someones had too much to drink....and what you are liable for if you serve someone whos too drunk or underage or if you let someone drive (and are drunk) from your establishment.

Check your local phone book to see if there is a bartending school in your area (look under schools, trade or vocational schools). Also check the trade/vocational school advertisement sections of your local newspapers

Bartending classes usually run 2-5 days and might cost you a couple of hundred dollars. They will teach you how to mix drinks. You have to be of legal drinking age to be a bartender.

Bartenders license? Are you high, you do not need a license to pour drinks. You only need a license if you are running a drinking based business. A bartender is no different from a waitress.

Some colleges do offer bar tending courses...there's actually a bar tending school here where I live...you can look through the phone book or even call a local club and ask the bartender where they went to get their course done.

It would help if you took a bartenders course. They'll show you the different glasses used for the different drinks. License? Never heard that before.

In Nevada, you do have to get a sort of license to serve alcohol, and there is a class involved. Don't know about other states, though.

All you need is a liquor license. You can get one from the ATF (alcohol, tobacco, and firearms). It costs 30 dollars, and you can work on the receipt until it comes in.
