i give to the ones that affect me, my main one being cancer research because my mum died of stomach cancer and hopefully one day they will find a cure for all cancers.
i always give to disaster funds because when i see the images on TV of things like the tsunami and earthquakes it really upsets me. i like to think that if it were the other way round those people would help me.

Give as you are moved to give. By all means research the organisation. You want to be sure your money is going to a good cause and not to pay for a charity workers holiday in the sun.
Regular giving is most advantageous to a charity. Whether you give a lot to one or a little to many is up to you, but then you won't mind if the charity worker does take a holiday

I give to animal rights organisations almost exclusively. After all, they are trully the innocent victims.
