I make friends pretty easily and they stay around for a while. It seems after a while they find new people and quickly drop me. I am 33 and have yet to be able to keep a friend for more than a year or two. I always try to find out what I have done wrong and I am always told nothing. Then Why? Why do I not have any friends?

I have had some of the same experiences, even with old friends I have had for a long time. Consider whether you are picking friends with the wrong criteria -- like, they are fun and exciting, but not very loyal, or maybe you want to help them to change, or they want to help you to change, and then when you turn out to be the same person you were born to be, it stops working. Thing #1 to remember is that everybody has something good in them, and if you lose your friends it's because of the circumstance, not because of anything that's wrong with you. My gut instinct is to suggest that you scale back your expectation of your friendships. It is my experience that the more casual and laid-back (and, in a way, distant) a friendship is, the longer it will last. If you tend to jump into a friendship with both feet, this time maybe just stick your feet in the pool to test the water. Make sure your friendships are balanced and two-sided, and that no one is using anyone else. Just go slow. You'll find some people who are worth your time and trust. Good luck!!

Are you overly clingly or needy? Do you give to the friendship as much as you receive? Are you depressed or anything that would make a friend not want to be around you? It may be none of those things. Sometimes, people just find out that they don't have similar interests after all. Some people just grow apart.
