My 2 month old son has always had soft stools. He is formula fed. Today he had a stool that wasn't exactly hard but it was formed in a slightly soft lump and drier than usual. Is he constipated? ( He usually has a bowel movement once a day and that has not changed)

If he's still having bm's regularly, then I would say he isn't constipated. However, he could be a little dehydrated.

It's only considered constipation if the stool is hard and it's been a few days since his last movement. I think he's ok. Just keep an eye on it.

If he does not have a BM, his tummy is hard and he seems uncomfortable, then yes he is constipated Just keep a watch and see what happens. As they get older their stools are going to change. If it becomes a problem, call your pediatrician and let them give you advice. I would but it's best that you get it from your baby's physician.

ok... do no longer provide her something citrus. they do no longer seem to be assume to have any end result till after 12-18 months via in the event that they are allergic it rather is severe. My daughter used to get constipated. We used to characteristic basically a splash Karo Syrup (Wal Mart) to her formulation. This labored Miricales. do no longer use in each bottle. One time could do the trick and that they cant flavor it. solid luck!

No--I wouldn't call him constipated unless he goes 2 days without a BM. A change in consistency may mean that he just absorbed more liquid from the formula than usual.
Variation is very normal...don't worry so much!

If it has only been 1 time dont worry. But you can call your babys doctor. They had me mix 1 tablespoon of karo syrup (light) in her bottle it helped. But call them and ask if that is ok first, karo syrup can be found in the isle next to maple syprup.

No. You don't have to worry about that, if he is not having stomach pain, he is not constipated.
