Of COURSE swearing feels good, the devil's seduction is supposed to feel good, until you're burning in heck, then the good feeling doesn't feel so "good" any more. Hm, go figure.

I don't need to hear your asterisk words so please don't even TRY to swear.

People swear for various reasons.
To gain popularity
to appear forceful
to express anger
to challenge
to appear superior
to be "cool"
to fit in
to insult
etc
Swearing is part of culture. It's been around since the beginning when Cain said to God "am I my brother's keeper?" It's part of what sin is.

truly intelligent people have no need to use vulgar language to express themselves.

i think some people swear because they think it makes them look and feel tough. other people swear because they just don't know any better, or their family swears, so they have grown up around that.

i agree with you that i think it's offensive and a sin. i swear sometimes, but usually not on purpose...it just kind of slips out sometimes if i'm around too many people who swear all the time.

But when I really feel like slapping my disrespectful 12 year old, swearing works so well to help me dispell that notion fast!
And if you don't have kids, you don't get it.
And if you do, and you still manage, well, you're jsut abetter person than me on that scale.
Just do me a favor and let she who is w/o sin and all that crap...

I believe there are 2 reasons why people use curse words. 1. they do not have the vocabulary to express themselves. and 2. some want to get their point across in a very passionate way.

People swear, I think, because they are surrounded by people who swear. .and once you are in the habit, it is very difficult to stop. I agree, it is very stupid and offensive, and it is a sin. It's like that verse that says bad people ruin good company. . or something. .ya know. People in the media curse, proffesors curse, friends curse constantly. . its hard. . ya know??

People get so mad they have to curse and they know it is wrong. They do it to prove how mad they are. It gets attention when someone curses. I think that it is wrong to curse but it isn't a "sin" sometimes it just slips out.

Don't you think that saying you don't give a crap is swearing as well? It is no sin, just boorish.
