I have never heard of there being something not to eat pregnant, except alcohol, or ingesting drugs. I ate any and all the foods I wanted. I bore twins(doc didn't know there was two)through induced labor, both weighed normal 6'6" and 6'12". So what did I eat that was wrong?

1) Cold deli meats (such as turkey, ham and hot dogs) and unpasteurized soft cheeses (such as feta, brie and Camembert) could potentially carry dangerous listeria bacteria. Don't eat lunch meats unless they're steaming hot, and look for the word “pasteurized” on all soft cheeses. 2) Sprouts and other raw produce (and unpasteurized juices) may carry salmonella or E. coli bacteria, so be extra careful when washing them or only eat them cooked. 3) Never eat fish that may be high in mercury, such as swordfish, shark, tilefish and king mackerel, and limit yourself to one serving (about six ounces) of albacore tuna or tuna steaks per week. For fish and shellfish lower in mercury, such as salmon and shrimp, eat no more than two servings per week.

Unpasteurised milk and cheese - Listeria I think
Raw eggs - salmonella
Oily fish like tuna - mercury
Alcohol - FAS

Sorry that's four, but it is probably closer to 4,000 once the nanny state has finished.

Oh, sheesh.

People are going to mention coffee and fish; both have been in the news lately -- now they think they were wrong about the risks.

The listeria hysteria strikes me as over-the-top.

The peanut thing is nonsense.

You can safely have a small amount of alcohol.

Contemporary Americans have THE weirdest pregnancies...

Fish or shell fish, peanuts, liver

Cant be spicy foods, I used to eat nacho for breakfast with extra hot peppers with my oldest. I love hot foods and the hotter the better. Both my kids love spicy foods as well.

Well, my friends' mom WAS pregnant and she told me that her mom ate a pickle and threw up. Which means that the baby doesn't like pickles.

So, I guess the mom will find out.
