If someone told you that you are clingy that is not a compliment. It is when someone attaches themselves to another person and they never let them alone. They have this need to always be around the other person and if you have ever heard of Velcro that is exactly what clingy means. Stuck to someone. Never leaves that person alone. Never gives that person breathing space.

Smothering someone
Being needy
Not showing any independence
Not giving the other person any space
Basically like how static makes your clothes cling to you, a clingy person is clinging to another person.

Always needing to know where you are and who you're with. Unless you're a jerk, then it's not clingy, it's substantiated.

Think of an octopus.

Clingy is like always by someone's side, no space, and it's almost stalker-like. Emotionally attached, or physically.

LIke plastic wrap.
