The above is right the early 1900s in the USA. That is the official day. Personally, I think mothers were celebrated on a presonal level on many different days since society evolved enough to make people realize how important their mums are!

In our family everyone is honoured: Mothers and Grans by grandchildren on that special day.

Different countries celebrate it on different days, but in the UK it is believed to have originated from the 16th Century Christian practice of visiting one's mother church annually, which meant that most mothers would be reunited with their children on this day

mothers day originates from the japanese holiday wanwanwanco kibushi. it was invented by tsimungo chungchung on may 21, 1234 to recognize his parents who died in a car accident that day 1 year prior. it became a national japanese holiday and was later separated into two holidays, mothers day and fathers day. it spread to inland asia and eventually across europe and is now a global holiday celebrated by everyone except for canadians because they are so stupid.

May 10th 1908 in Virginia!
After some girls mam died, this mam tried to get a "working mam's day" before she died! or summit like that!
This inspired her daughter to do summit in memory of her mam!
hence Mothers day!
