That dumb flip to home anyone would have made, when he ran into the stands he was in fair territory when he caught the ball, and the broken bat fisters to right are getting old. He is the most overrated player in the game.

Well, let's see, Jeter is not even 33 yet and has 2150 career hits, is a .317 CAREER hitter, (the same as Roberto Clemente, who is in the Hall of Fame, by the way), and is on his way to well over to 3000 hits, which he will get within 5 years. He is capable of hitting 25 home runs, but does the little things, such as hit and run, bunting, and giving himself up to get the runners over. You Jeter haters can say he is overrated, but you know damn well that if Jeter got hurt, you'd rejoice because he's the heart of the Yankees. The reason for the "broken bat fisters to right" are because pitchers have always thrown him up and in, which is why he gets hit in the hand and wrist each season. You can't pull a ball when you are pitched like that. You need to know what you are talking about before making your idiotic statements.

Anyone could have made the "dumb flip to home"?? That is incorrect. Why was no one else even in the picture? Jeremy Giami did not slide because he did not see Jeter, he saw Shane Spencer's throw taking 15 hops to home plate. That was a great play, Jeter catching it on a hop, then throwing it backhand on the run. Why do we see that highlight a hundred times each year? Classic.

When he ran into the stands he was in fair territory?? What the hell are you talking about? The stands are in FOUL territory DUH!!! Obviously Jeter would have been in fair territory when he was chasing the foul pop, before going into foul territory, you make no sense. When he caught the ball he could not stop in time, 99 percent of players don't even attempt that. David Ortiz can't, he's a DH. Jeter came up with a cut cheek that required stitches and a bruised shoulder. The next night, Mets fans who hate the Yankees gave Jeter a standing ovation at Shea.

It is not even baseball season yet, and I think you are a complete loser who has nothing better to do than ask dumb questions with dumb arguments that make no sense.

U can all go **** ur sisters on dis 1. Jeter is a better ball player than most people make him out to be. Miguel Tejada? What the **** r u talking about. Tejada sucks. That most overrated **** is gettin old 2. U people r just jealous because Jeter is better than ur team's SS. Only about 4 other players can make that flip, and most guys r too homo to take a dive into the stands4 HIS TEAM. He's what baseball should be about. He's all about the team, the money doesn't matter, like it does to every other major leaguer. U don't see anybody else making the plays Jeter does.

SHUT THE **** UP AND LEAVE JETER ALONE.

Statistically, Jeter is above average but not spectacular. His .317 average is good but he has never hit more than 24 HRs and averages just 17 a season. Also, he doesn't draw a lot of walks and has always bat in an extremely strong lineup which inflates stats.

Put him #2 on the Royals and he hits .280 because there would be no protection.

His defense is solid but suffers from a lack or range so he doesn't get to a lot of balls other shortstops do. He has been "clutch" in the post season but many players have.

Statistically he's most similiar to Alan Trammel according to baseball-referance.com Trammel was great but is not a hall of famer.

As soon as I read a previous question about overrated players, Jeter was the first name to pop into my head. I've rarely seen him come through offensively in a big situation (And he gets worse in the playoffs). Defensively he is an average shortstop, which is pretty good for a guy who puts up numbers. The Yankees won championships when they had pitching. Ditto the Red Sox, Cardinals, Marlins, etc.. Take away the pitching and you have a team of all star position players who get smoked in the playoffs. The rest of the top of the yankees lineup is tied for second place: Giambi, ARod, et al, except for Cano. I'd take him in a New York minute.

I think alot of you guys are jealous of Jeter and the Yankees. I'm an Astro fan but as a fan of baseball I know Jeter is by far one of the top players and the best all around shortstop. Jealousy hurts.

I am in total agreement. If fat *** Jeremy Giambi would have slide the evil empire would have one less ring. Jeter is a clutch performer I will give him that but he doesnt compare 2 MIggy Tejada,Vizquel, Nomar before he moved from Short. I dont think he is no better tahn rafael Furcal. He is just a competent short stop who has been givin a chance to play for a great team. He probably wouldnt even make the All star team if he was on the royals or Nats. JETER BLOWS CLOUDS

Yeah, he's been getting lucky like that for 11 years. The .317 career batting average is a conspiracy and the career .976 fielding percentage? Come on, who hires these score keepers? One of these days his luck will run out, he'll hit .310 and have 15 errors instead of 14. That fielding percentage will never add up to Ozzie Smith's .978 which earned 13 gold gloves and 14 all star games.
Soon they'll finally see the light and ship him off to the minor leagues.

Yes, you are. Jeter is a very athletic shortstop. He makes plays that are unvbelieveable. You can't teach what Jeter does to anybody. He could have been an All-Star with any team.

Jeter's the man... I don't think anyone else in MLB can perform better then he does.
He plays for the Love of the Game not like others that play for the Love of Money the game gives them...
