Don't worry. It is common for the first couple of years you have periods for them to be irregular. Both in time in between periods, how long they last each time, and how heavy the flow is.

I had the same issue and I remember when I went to a GYN for the first time the doctor said that.

If after a couple of years you are still irregular, you might want to discuss options with your doctor.

But it is good that you aren't having sex for many reasons. But one for now is that you will always know that if your period is late it isn't because you might be pregnant.

It is frustrating not knowing when you will have a period, but you will learn your symptoms of them coming on and will usually know when you are about to "start."

Your periods are still trying to get in to the swing of things so this is not uncommon for you as you are still developing physically. It will start to settle down by becoming regular in a couple of years as some of the other posters said.

Women's bodies are all different. My period would come like clockwork and them skip a month or two whenever it felt like it and I was not sexually active. Some of our bodies are just different that way. I saw mine as blessing.
