I went on a quest about 6 months ago to find a truly 100% chemical-free makeup line and I must disagree with the people who are telling you Bare Minerals (and even worse, the store bought big brand names that are coming out with "mineral makeup") - are all-natural. All you have to do is look at the ingredients and you will see for yourself that they are not "all-natural" or chemical-free.

For one, Bare Minerals foundation contains Bismuth Oxychloride, which is the by-product of lead and copper refining, as well as other metals to a smaller degree. Bismuth occurs very rarely in nature. Companies use this in their cosmetics because it is cheap to buy and is an inexpensive filler. It's a very heavy element, which makes it difficult for many people to wear. The heaviness can result in clogged pores or irritated skin. Bismuth Oxychloride is also kin to arsenic, chemically. Your body will reject things it does not like, and if you'll get sick from ingesting arsenic, it would make sense that your skin would get irritated from having arsenic forced into it.

Also, Bare Minerals Mineral Veil finishing powder contains parabens. A little info on parabens for ya: METHYL, PROPYL, BUYTL and ETHYL PARABENS are used as preservatives to inhibit microbial growth to extend products' shelf life. May cause allergic reactions and rashes. Contain highly toxic formaldehyde-releasing ingredients which are carcinogenic, increasing the risk of cancer in both men and women.

So... there you have it. Bare Minerals is not "all-natural" or chemical-free at all.

But I do have some good news for you...there are a few truly chemical-free makeup lines that do exist.

I, personally, use makeup from Everyday Minerals, which is a chemical-free makeup company. The quality of the makeup is great, the prices are extremely reasonable (best prices I've found anywhere for mineral makeup) and they have awesome customer service. I highly recommend Everyday Minerals.

Cory Cosmetics is another all-natural makeup company that I know of, have purchased from and have liked.

Some links listed below for ya. Good luck. Just be sure to read ingredient labels, educate yourself on what the ingredients actually are and you'll be good to go.

There's a really educational website that I have used many times when I want to look up a specific ingredient (or product brand) and what risks are associated with it...It's the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep website. Tons of info on there. Link listed below. :-)

I'm pretty sure Bare Minerals is good makeup for this. You might also want to try Burt's Bees. They do use some chemicals, but I know they try to go as natural as possible. Try checking out a health food store. I know my local one has earth-friendly skin and body care stuff, including makeup. Good luck on your search!

Bare mineral is a good make up, but if you don't want to order online or on the phone you can buy Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation. You can buy it anywhere they sell make up.

Bare Minerals is a great choise, but I think it can only be ordered online or by phone. Neutregena just came out with a mineral makeup line. I'm not sure what the name is, but it can be purchased at your local drug store or Wal-Mart.

Good Luck! ;)
