My daughter is at boarding school and is getting unreasonable treatment from the staff- who seem to be over punishing her for a previous misdemenour. I would intervene but i'm afraid it could make things worse. She's leaving in July- Do you think i'm right in advising her to lay low and comply?

Boarding school? what do you expect?

Depends what the unreasonable treatment comprises.
If it is enough to distress her then you should intervene. It shouldnt make it worse cos after all the teachers here are supposed to be the grown ups. But your daughter may think your interfering
If you dont intervene and shes really hoping you do, she may feel let down if you take no action.
She may even think that this is how to deal with confrontation and never stand up for herself.
I think you need to tell your daughter that you are prepared to take whatever action she wants you to. That way she knows youre on her side, but she can choose to let you do nothing if she doesnt want to cause a fuss.

My advice is not to interfere because it is easy for parents to take the wrong side of events to which you have not been witness. Say to your daughter " I wish I could help but I am not in a position to make a fair judgement"

Sometimes situations tend to humble us. If she keeps her attitude in check during the process, she could learn a valuable lesson... even if the treatment isn't fair.

sometimes it is best to let children fight their own battles. Depends on a couple of things
1. If it will affect future references/will teachers document what they 'think' of her
2. If it is making her unhappy then yes intervene - depends on her age too

Sometimes teachers are too good at judging and making childrens school days miserable

its only 4-5 months, no point rocking the boat.
if you are really that bothered? wait till she has left then make a complaint to people who run the school.

If they are harassing her, it's harassment. If she's leaving soon, I would say stand up to them. Let them know you're not a sheep to be pushed around. Don't let authority push you around.
