My 8 1/2 month old's cradle cap comes and goes. When will it go away for good and does anyone have any tips for making it better? Thanks!

I can relate! I also have an 8 1/2 month old with cradle cap that comes and goes. I just bought Disney's Cradle Cap Shampoo (found it at Wal-Mart for 6 bucks). I used it about 2 weeks ago now and it seemed to work good. All the flakes came up and haven't come back since. I will warn you though the shampoo stinks! Good luck!

All three of my children had cradle cap. It can last up to 12 months on some babies and really is nothing to worry about except it bothers us moms :(

If you want to give it a try, rub just a small amount of a pure, natural oil — such as almond or olive oil — on your baby's scalp and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Then gently comb out the flakes with a fine-toothed comb or brush them out with a soft brush.

Be sure to follow up by washing your baby's scalp with a gentle baby shampoo — the last thing you want to do is leave oil on his head, which could clog the pores and cause the flakes to stick. You might try leaving the shampoo on for a few minutes before rinsing, to help cut the oil.

Good luck.. I found using this treatment helped a lot on my children.

try dentinox shampoo specifically made for cradle cap use to wash his hair twice a day, then apply johnson baby oil judiciously all over hair after washing and use a soft comb that wouldnt hurt the baby to either brush or comb it out,
make sure the babys hair is never left dry.
if it doesnt go away think about trimming down the babys hair so you can see the scalp properly and treat properly.
dont leave it for long cos it make them quite uncomortable as it itches them.

My 18 month old still has a bit of cradle cap stuck to the top of her head, and no sign of it shifting any time soon!
Don't worry about it, there are not many adults who still have it!

My daughter suffered with it until she was a little over a year old. I always used baby oil to soften the "cap", then kind of picked it loose, gently. She has a beautiful head of hair 26yrs later!

My oldest daughter had that - I put Vaseline in her hair, massaged it in her scalp, then combed the Vaseline through her hair with one of those baby combs (making sure I gently combed her scalp as well). It works really good - the only problem is the Vaseline feeling took time to get out of her hair.

Use a dandruff shampoo once a week. It will help, a lot of people used to say to use baby oil, but that only aggravates it. It is clogged pores and oil only makes things worse.

My SIL told me to wash the baby's hair first. Do not rinse it right away. After you wash the rest of the baby and let them play etc, then rinse well. I still do this to my girls and the oldest is 8. It really helps without having to use oil. I always thought that their hair was still oily even after washing it.

This has something to do with oil glands. I use to put virgin olive oil on my chidrens' scalps and loosen up the stuff and then wash the hair several times. It will eventually go away.

Try a little bit of olive oil with tea trea oil mixed in, rubbed on his head, and then wash it out.
Good luck!
