I'm visiting the British Museum this Sunday, mainly to see the Egyptian collection. But what other exhibits shouldn't I miss?

Its huge... take three days!

The most important parts are the Saxon collection, the Sutton Hoo Burial mask, and Alfred the Greats purse stone.

In the Greek section, the Parthenon Frieze is a must.

The Roman coffins in the Egyptian section, with wax portraits are superb,

The Prints and Drawing room exhibitions are awesome

You should see the Rosetta Stone - but my favourite are the the Lewis Chessmen.

properly this is slightly self glaring. enable's play what if. What in the event that they got here across tables with the ten commandments written on them in some cave and carbon relationship shows those to be older than the different man made products and the writing replaced into completely formed Hebrew fused and with a radiactive decay and a appropriate area, as though it have been written by potential of a laser and carbon relationship shows that to be 8,000 or 10,000 years previous (the writing) and the rock to be even older. Now what Earth shaking revelations might this manner of discover have and what might scientists say. lower back we are enjoying a what if. Everytime an archeological discover occurs a sparkling piece of the puzzle is going out in all instructions. the biggest concern is what are atheists and scientists going to assert if tax information from Bethlehem are ever got here across and point out a Mary and Joseph and son. And it gets autheticted by potential of technological know-how and carbon relationship to the 50AD to 50 BC quantity of time. It relies upon on what you opt to have faith. There are eyewitness debts of wierd steel latest in New Mexico after the government claimed climate baloon, and of direction, the govverment confiscated all areas got here across. so which you opt to have faith what you desire to. you opt to have faith the government or you opt to beleive the attention witnesses or you opt to easily shop an open techniques.

My personal favourite exhibition in the British Museum is the Japanese arts collection (it is on one of the top floors, IIRC).

It is very quiet and peaceful there and the art is truly spectacular. It is one of the few collections of this kind in Europe.

The Parthenon and Erectheion sculptures from the Acropolis of Athens. They were sort of stolen in the 18th century by Elgin, but now they're there, and they are masterpieces.
