Second-hand smoke has widely been recognized as being dangerous. It makes sense because it is the same toxic smoke smokers inhale, but without the benefit of a cigarette filter. It is estimated that over 50,000 people die each year from second-hand smoke. There are numerous documented cases of life-long non-smokers that come down with smoking related illnesses and diseases as a result of second-hand smoke exposure.

Just the stale smell of smoke will not have a significant effect on you though.

When you're invited to someones home and they're smokers you have to decide if you want to go or not.

The smoke will affect your lungs because that's what happens when you're in a room with cigarette smoke.

if they don't smoke in the house anymore and the house is not filled with smoke how will it affect your lungs? If you feel that paranoid about it wear a gas mask although it might affect your pulling technique!!

It depends on how bad the smoke is and how old the smell is. Chances are it can't hurt you anymore.

I would bring some air freshner and spray it that should help. I hate smoke too and it is a hard odor to get rid of because it sticks to the walls and carpet and furniture.

It won’t affect your lungs; it only will stink like hell. So if you can take the smell go ahead, if not stay home

is it a pungent smell? Just try to stay outside and wear cologne so it doesn't stick to you.
