Long sordid story...

In 3rd grade my best friend had this amazing girlfriend whom I was convinced hung the moon. I would have absolutely died to have the opportunity to make her my own. He was lousy at phone conversations and used to make me talk to her on the phone - he was a crappy conversationalist - and then he'd handle the "I love you, goodbye" portion of the conversation.

Over ten years later, I ran into this woman. Even more amazingly beautiful as an adult than she was as a child. She had kept up on me - somehow - and knew that I had moved on as a human and become a Marine yada, yada, yada...

She asked me out for a drink that night. I couldn't attend for a number of reasons - the biggest being that I couldn't bring myself to tell her that my life was pretty crappy at that point and I was living with some friends watching life pass me by. The other big reason was that my ex had invited me over for a booty call that particular evening.

My one main regret is that I never had that drink with Mandi Alvarez. Chances are, it wouldn't have changed anything. But, there is always the possibility that it would have lead to an amazingly beautiful relationship with the hottest woman on the planet and changed the outcome of my entire life.

That being said, while I still wonder what Mandi's up to and the whole, "what if..." of the moment. I have a really happy life now and am fairly well respected as a human. You have to be thankful for what you have - regardless of your regrets.

Everybody has regrets. But I wouldn't change it, no matter how bad it might have been. Things happen for a reason. If you go back an change things, it could have a ripple effect on the rest of your life, causing other things to happen that you might not want.
