Madame T.j. Walker she did kinda like an Avon thing you know going door to door selling palm aide aka hair grease. She was either based in Chicago or Detroit during the late 19 to early 20 century. Up until Oprah she was considered the richest black woman in America. sorry It's either t.j. or c.j. walker I'm not sure of the initials but the rest is true

I got kicked out of a couple of "all white" clubs for wearing a "Free Angela" button. It was either in the late 60s or early 70s. Her full name is Angela Davis and I don't doubt that a web search will give you a lot of information on her.

On the hair; she had a HUGE afro.

Famous of hair??? There are lots of African American women who are heros, but I am not aware of one based on her hair.

Anyone?
