I am a new trader on the stock market and I am looking for companies that are performing well in an up and coming markets. Pro eco companies may stand out e.g Wind turbines, solar, green friendly etc, the question is how do I find those specific companies as its a minefield out there?

Google "green mutual funds" Then use one of the many financial sites to check their top 10 (or 25 listed in msn.com) holdings. Then do research on each specific company you like. I also check investing magazines and newsletter for articles about them. One latest newsletter said (and this is not a recommendation by me, I don't own them) Vestas Wind Systems (VWSYF) makes some of the best turbines on the market. Sales are climbing but, profits remain elusive due to lackluster management. Hopefully they will be taken over. There is a German company called SolarWorld (OTC: SRWRF). Don't know anything about them. I remember General Electric bought the solar cell factory of a company that went belly up. (From another newsletter) FPL, a Florida utility is the nation's largest operator of wind farms.

First you need to know that about 2/3rds (66%) of all Stock Market "advisers" are WORSE at picking shares than following the FTSE average (this is why Index Trackers are so popular).

This also explains (in part) why you need to learn how to Do Your Own Research (DYOR) - the other reason is that in the UK, it is Illegal to give Financial Advise unless you are Registered with, and passed 'exams' set by, the FSA.

Finally you need to find a good source of financial Data that is not 'tainted' by one of the 66% incompetents above (or by a "Financial Reporter" who knows even less than that).

Needless to say, real data costs real money - I recommend Company REFS (the subscription is about £600 a year).

If you can't afford it, stick to Index Trackers.

You might also read up on the 'dot com boom' (and bust) - "eco" will be the next "over hyped" technology and (in my opinion only, DYOR) the real money will be made in buying OIL & Commodities.

I've been trading the market for just a few months. My cousin actually told me about Nathan and his website and I signed up immediately after. http://penny-stock.keysolve.net
I'm not someone who has a lot of time to be researching for ideas because I work many hours.
Nathan has made it incredibly easy for me to make money in the market. His reports are easy to read and follow.
I've tracked most of the stock ideas that I've received in my e-mail from him and MANY have seen some nice gains after his announcements. I've made a nice profit (55% return on my investment on one, and 112% on the other!) on a couple of suggestions he's given and plan to start trading his ideas a lot more.

I definitely recommend subscribing to PennyStock Egghead. Very good research, quality stocks.
