I recently found out I am pregnant and so I got a pap done... I got a letter stating that there was cervical dysplasia.... My question is all of my lab work came out normal, and whenever I am NOT pregnant my paps are normal should I be worried? Or not?

Did they specify how severe the dysplasia was? I mean was it MILD dysplasia or what? I have had problems with dysplasia (not while pregnant) but dysplasia just simply means changing of the cells. You could have had an infection that caused swelling of the cells causing your pap to come out abnormal (or so my doctor told me) or it could be more serious. I have had a freeze done myself. And I have had abnormal paps that meant nothing.

Now my sister did have to have some in office procedures done while she was pregnant because of the same thing.

Don't worry yourself to death over it, it could be absolutely nothing more than a yeast infection. But do have your doctor break it down to you and explain it thoroughly because I know how scary it can be to get those letters. Take a deep breath and try not to worry about it too much. You'll be seeing your doctor again soon, and it's very unlikely it would be something that couldn't wait until then, even if it is something that requires a small procedure.

I hope this helps. Congratulations on the baby, and good luck.

I had the same thing. Generally they will wait till you have the baby and then to do another pap. If this to comes out abnormal they will send you for a colpospcy (sp?)
Sometimes, depending on how far a long you are they will send you for the colposcpy any way. It is a fairly painless procedure. They look down there with a microscope and place a vinger substance on the cells. If they turn white they use a laser to burn them off. It won't really hurt, though you may walk funny after.
A lot of times giving birth will clear up the problem. Don't worry to much. I still have abnormal paps, but there is nothing wrong with me!

If you have c.d. your doctor will follow up in a couple months to see if its clears up on its own. Im not sure how it works when you are pregnant. I know you cant have the procedure done to remove the cells until AFTER the baby comes as you remove cells from your much needed cervix.

Your labs wont come back normal if there is abnormal cells.

Id call your doctor.
