How can I learn to dance? I wanna do it for fun and fitness, but I'm far too self concious to go to a class, as I have never done it before and I feel too old (23) to be starting from the begining in a group!

Are there any good books/dvds/websites out there that will teach me the basics and then build on them? Or does anyone know any good techniques to learn at home?

I'm hoping once I have some confidence to possibly join a group.

you are not too old and the best thing to do is to join some group or to go to some dancing school. don't try doing it by yourself, you won't do much. I'm a professional dancer and I lead one group. a lot of older people then you come to dance so don't be shy or anything and go to dance!

omg you're NOT too old to learn how to dance! You can try any local dance clothing store-they usually also sell dvds and books. Or try the library or Barnes and Noble. I really think you should try a group dance class. Look around in your community newspaper to find out about dance classes for adults. If you attend college, definitely look in classes with your school-if you join a beginning dance class there, you'll be with other beginners AND your peers.

wow, u relly rnt 2 old. many ppls who r like 40 go to dance lessons. The thing about dvds is that they just arent worth it. if ur gonna get a DVD for fitness, it might as well be Pilates or something, but u need a CLASS for dance. (most classes r really fun, i would take one if i were u) or just get a friend who can dance to help u out.
