I understand synthetic division, I just don't know what to do when I am supposed to do it when I am not dividing with something like (x-5) instead I am supposed to divide with (3x-5).

solve it for x so its x=5/3 then plug that in the synthetic division.

5/3 } 1 8 3 5

Make the division by (x-5/3) and at the end multiply the quotient by 3

You can only use synthetic division when the coefficent of x is 1
You cannot divide by (2x-9). In this case you want to use long division
