I bought my HP almost EIGHT years ago and I have never had one problem with it. But recently I have heard bad things about HP's . I'm only looking for a new computer because this one doesnt have all the new upgrades I need and it only has two usb hubs. Any suggestions on what brand I should buy. I only use my computer to bank, shop, email, upload pictures from my camera, and iTunes.

If you are used to 2000 or XP, I would simply get a newer computer with XP. Vista will be a major change. You have a familiarity with what you have, and all you files will transfer perfectly.

Whatever pc or laptop you get, just make sure it is fully Vista certified and capable of all Premium Vista features (Aero Glass for one). Some pc's come with XP now, and a certificate for Vista. Might be a good way to go.

If adventurous, buy it with Vista fully loaded. I've used it for 4 months and it works fine, just a little different.

Nothing wrong with HP's (yours lasted 8 years). I'm running 5 HP's at work just as old. Some models were excellent.

Go to a computer store and look at the pc's and laptops. Find one you really like, Like HP, Sony, Dell, Toshiba ( a name you recognize), with the features you like!!

Macs are beautiful (I have one of those as well) but converting all your stuff gets a little tedious, and the interface takes some getting used to.

whatever you do do not get a dell laptop... they break they suck and customer service is horrible. i got one a year and a half ago and the power adapters suck... they've broken 6 times and they tend to send referbished ones and that only lasted a week. also if you do get a dell and you buy a printer from them keep in mind that the ink is expensive, can only be purchased online or refilled in random kiosks in malls.
