Okay, calm down. You are not too old yet to be getting your period. It can come at any age during puberty. I once knew a girl who got her period when she was 11. It kind of sucked. A person can get pregnant the second week after her period is done. So if your period started on the 1st of the month then your week to get pregnant would be around the 15th to the 21st, somewhere in there. Getting your period at an older age isn't such a bad thing. Life isn't all sugar and spice after you get it. If fact it's kind of a pain in the @**. Once a month you are stuck with this annoyance for a week. You have to make sure you are prepared all the time when it's getting close to when you should start, and your life can be put on hold for that week when you are at your age. Your afraid to go do something with your friends, because "what if?". So, consider yourself lucky that you haven't got it yet. You have the rest of your life hating this horrible disease that all women get stuck with. Not to mention the pain from the cramps, back aches, and mood swings. It would really be a good idea if you would talk to your mom, or a teacher at school. It helps if you have someone to talk to to answer all your questions. Good luck!!!

Don't be too concerned! First of all, some girls get their period in their mid 20's! And yes, when you get your period that is a sign you can get pregnant, however if you do decide to have sex, still use a condem because you may have had your period and it was so light you didn't notice... better safe than sorry!

Secondly, your parents know. You don't use tampons or pads and you have never had an "accident" (yes, it happens to everyone at least once, and almost always the first time they have their period). If you haven't had your period before you are 16, it is time to talk to your doctor, just to make sure that your hormones are fine and you have enough body weight to have your period.

Just as a note here, I don't know about where you are living, but when I was growing up most of my friends got their periods around the age of 12/13/14/15, so I wouldn't be overly concerned

Puberty happens at random times, and there's nothing you can do about it. Just like whether you need glasses, or get the flu, or have blonde or brown or black hair - it's the way your body is, it's partly heredity and partly random. It doesn't make you any less of a person. Many women would envy the fact that you don't have to experience periods... yet.

If you have not started your periods yet, you probably can't get pregnant. HOWEVER - you can get pregnant just before your first period (2 weeks before, assuming normal 28-day cycle) so unless you're really far away from it (I doubt it at your age) it's not worth the risk; abstain or use contraception - besides, condoms also prevent diseases. (You never know!)

The 28-day cycle involves an egg being released and desceding into the uterus. If no conception happens, the uterine lining is shed (hence, bleeding) and the cycle of a ne egg developing starts over. So, the very first time, you could release an egg before your bleeding starts.

Also, the first few year or several, your cycle may not be regular. Untile you are like clockwork - same cycle length every month -anything you read about timing vs. pregnancy could be unreliable.

The common wisdom is "ovulation happens on day 12 to 15, so no sex from day 8 to day 19". This math only works for regular cycles, and has to be adjusted for not-28-day cycles. And, ovulation may randomly happen at the wrong time, so this is not a very reliable way to prevent pregnancy.

You can get pregnant whenever you have unprotected sex. So either use some from of protection or don't have sex till your ready for a child. You could still get pregnant even though you haven't had a period yet.

As to your period, girls start their period at varying times. some can be as young as 9 others as old as 18. so you are well within the range. i come from a family of four girls and the youngest to get periods was nine the oldest almost 17 so you are perfectly normal. Don't be embarrassed it is perectly normal. also its no harm to talk to your mum she has them too you know you could ask her when she got hers it would start a conversation on the topic. Best of luck with them and stop worrying its not good for you
take care

If you have you period regularly the same day every month then this will help you to know when you can and when you CAN'T get pregnant. Starting with the first day of your period you count 10 days where you can have sex with no problems, the next 10 days you CAN'T have sex, the last 10 days you can. You should ALWAYS use protection no matter what because you don't want to get pregnant or STD. Now, if you have an irregular period, you will NEVER know when you will get pregnant.

no you can't get pregnant unless your period comes that month. like say you get your first period ever this month if you had sex this month before you got that first period then yes you could get pregnant. heres what you do. take a test .go to your coner drug store or have a girl friend take you then buy a test take it in the bathroom at the drug store. make sure you follow all the directions then you will know. start using condoms if you are going to have sex. that way you don't run the chance of this happening again. ok? plus you don't want to get an std right? that would suck and you are too young to be drug down by a kid so don't run the chances. if the guy won't use one they make some for women too. good luck.

About your period: some say you'll get it around the same age your mom was when she first had hers. I don't know if this is true but when I was 12 (I'm almost 15), I had my period and when I asked my mom when she got hers, she said at 14. That's around the age.
Hey, don't be embarrassed about it! I was SUPER shy about asking the gynecologist, but he said that it's good to ask.

Keep in mind, though, if you are underweight, this may be why. So, check your weight (don't freak out plz) and EXERCISE REGULARLY, whether thin, average or pleasantly plump.

(Don't freak about this but, if by the time you're age 17 and you haven't had your period yet, there could be a problem.)

First of all, you can't get pregnant if you haven't had sex. Second of all, you conceive BETWEEN your periods, not during---so no, you can't get pregnant during your period. However, if you are sexually active you must always think "I can get pregnant at any time"---it's safer to think that way. When you say you haven't had your period yet---do you mean your very first period? It's not unusual for girls your age to not start their first period yet. My daughter is 14 and hasn't.
It's good you ask for advice---but also keep open with your parents as much as possible. Tell your Mom you want to talk to her about something personal.

Yes, once you get your period you can get pregnant. Everyone gets their periods at different ages. I don't think there is anything wrong with you. If you haven't gotten your period yet, you can't get pregnant, not that you should be thinking about getting pregnant at this age or even about having sex. If it doesn't come within a year, then I suggest talking to your mom or your doctor. If you feel like you can't talk to them, try a teacher or a different adult you feel comfortable talking to.

Relax. I know tons of girls who are the same age and haven't started yet. Everyone different. Some start early, some late. I started at 10 [2ND in class]. It also has to do w/ genes. I don't like talking about this stuff w/ my mom or doctor either.

You can't get pregnant without starting your period anywho.
