I have a cyst on my right ovay, and I have heard that functional cysts only get about 1.5-3cm. Mine is 8cm (roughly 4 inches). Is it possible that this isn't functional and it is a different fluid inside like blood or something worse? I don't know if should be worried about this or not. What is the possibility that because this cyst is so big that it could aggravate my appendix, and would I know if it burst (the cyst)? Plus do I need surgey and would I possibly loose my ovary?

If it's a simple cyst, and not causing you problems or incessant, unbearable pain, your doc is likely to leave it alone.

If it does rupture, you're likely to feel a sharp, intense pain that fades away over a couple of hours. I wouldn't worry about it. Just have it monitored when you have your routine OB/GYN checkups.

These are great questions, but you need to ask your ob/gyn for the answers. Most of the people on this forum are not doctors, and even if they are, they do not have your personal history.
