Yes, it is a tough diagnosis to have. A personality disorder means that the behavior patterns are deeply ingrained rather than ones that have developed in the last few weeks/months.
There is no medication for it. Those with borderline often tend to see things in extremes - everyone hates me, she's the ONLY one for me, I am the dumbest guy in the world, etc. That is, they have what is called black and white thinking. Much of life is in the grey areas - some people like you, some probably don't, and probably a lot have no real opinion.
Can you get better? Yes. Is it a process that will take time?? - yes. It is in relationships that people find healing - meaning that staying connected with someone and learning things like people can disagree with you without that meaning that they hate you. Learn how to stay in a relationship even if you and the other do not see eye to eye on things.
Try to see the shades of grey in people and in relationships. Learn to base your sense of worth not on other's opinions (which change constantly) and base your worth on something more solid (which I would submit ought to be God's opinion about you).
Learn to be able to be angry without manipulation and taking it out on yourself or others. Don't use manipulation or guilt to get your way. Learn that patterns in relationships can change. You won't always be rejected, etc.
Get involved in an animal shelter or maybe somewhere else you can feel needed and valued.
Find a counselor you can open up with and stick with him/her. It is a long process, but you can be free of this.

Personality D/O's are difficult to treat. This is mainly because these are disorders caused by learning abnormal ways of coping with life's issues. Therefore, you have to basically unlearn the ways you cope with things now and relearn better ways. This can work, but most, when under pressure will revert back to what has worked in the past (even though they truly don't like the results. It's what they know and they can usually predict the outcome. Even if the outcome is negative). You have learned to accept that the way you have done things in the past does not work (if you are truly accepting what your assessments have yielded for you). However, to overcome a Personality D/O (especially Borderline) you will nearly need to subject yourself to the type of classic psychoanaylsis that Freud prescribed his patients (several times a week for YEARS). It's doable, but difficult, time consuming, and expensive.

You should slap the person(s) that allowed, or taught you incorrect ways of dealing with life's problems, because you are the one left "holding the bag" called your life.

Sideshow,..i gotta confess,..i went through your avatar..checked through your answers,..considered this questions validity,.. and asked my self what cousel WOULD, or even COULD bring you some hope.
You know already that the 'problems' you have, are in your mental processing of thought and emotions,....and you seem intelegently agile enough to grasp the concept that nothing will change unless YOU change it, and evidently you are reluctant to do what is necessary to get it done.....
I am not going to do any harm to you, nor to my own ideology by pretending to pity, or emphathise with you... hiprocracy will accomplish nothing for eather of us.
However, If you believe in something deeply, and 'that' belief serves a purpose for you, it is [to you] then sacred or holy, ...and i respect that.
The 'hell' you know so well is foreign to me, as it is to every one else, because we dont live in your head, serve your dementia, recognise your process, associate with your cognitions, or identifie with your mental methods. All 'we' can do is attempt to inspire in you the interest in, and persuit of your own personal inner spiritual recognition.
"Life" is not a picnic for any one...we all have our deamons. We all have our skelitons. We all have our intimate secrates. We all know an insermountable fear of some kind. We are all wounded some way or another.
You can choose to be partisapant in the problems.... or you can choose to be partispant in lifes solutions... it up to you. There are no sober-grams from any gods... WE are each on our own.

hey, stop seeing them, they earn a fortune at your expense and all you get is total fragmentation of your personality. Try EMDR it blows these psychiatrists out of their cognitive water lol...try it and see..its totally amazing. Spread it around. Go on whats stopping you, blow the geeks out of the water. Yes you will get well, those bstds are stopping you. Take care. And get well as soon as you try Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing

It could be alot worse, at least you are not a paranoid schizophrenic. There is medication out there somewhere, don't believe everything you read on the internet.
