I understand that you ask if I understand the question. That I do. Now, I also understand on a higher level as well.
In particular, I do understand "it" as well. In the context "it" refers back to teh question, if indeed you are asking if I understand it, if it is the question.
If not, I understand the concept of it at yet another level. To understand the "it" about "it" takes a great deal of mental acuity. Equally, it is not so much a matter of my understanding and explaining what I know when it is the subject of the it I know about. It is more the concept will others understand what I am saying because it is a complex language when one discusses the property of any it.
