It all depends on the casino you play in, some have the no free hands rule so you would have to post your big blind when you sit down or you can wait for the big blind to come around to you.But some casinos you don't have to post. Also just so you know you can never come in on the small blind you would have to sit out a hand to wait for the button to pass you.

Sally is correct in some casinos. In the one's where i play, the rule is that you have a choice when you sit down.
You can start playing right away, for free, in any position, (except the rare chance that you are between the big and small blind when you sit down then you wait) and post the big blind when it becomes your turn, or:
You can wait for the blinds and the button to pass you, then play a full round for free until your first big blind is due. Of course you'll need to at least call the BB if you want to see a flop.
good luck.

If you want to begin playing right away, you must post a big blind. Or you can sit out until the big blind gets to you and post it then. If you have any other rules questions you should read the rules section on http://www.theultimatepokerguide.com it will probably help!

they are right , in most cases you post the big blind. Unless you sit and you are the big blind. I usually like to sit and wait around for it to come to me. That gives me a chance to watch how they play atleast for little bit before I need to start making choices.

Sh*t occurs chum. in case you haven't any longer considered something like this in a stay activity, you haven't any longer performed lots stay poker. that's the magnificent reason maximum good gamers (in many circumstances in ring video games, yet in tournaments too) do no longer placed all their chips in formerly the flop except they have too, even with AA. people flop journeys, flushes, and right away all of the time. Ever examine tremendous platforms? Doyle wrote of a hand the place he had quad aces and have been given beat whilst the different guy rivered the royal. recover from it, or stop taking part in. If the $8 you misplaced isn't a minor chink in an $800 or extra bankroll, you're taking part in brief besides, and that's in all hazard why you're so pissed.
