Not an easy question to answer. I think perhaps you need to listen rather than talk and take account of what others are saying.Sofistication is not something you can take on - like a piece of clothing. It is only when others see you as sofisticated that you will become so.

Stand tall, (no slouching or hands stuffed inside pockets) Always show grace and impeccable manners. Always try to find something nice about the person with whom you cannot stand. Always be thankful for the blessed life you have. At least you don't have to drink mud water. Be respectful for nature and the beauty surrounding us all, and its free!! You can build your essence being positive, genuine, honest, kindly, sharing your knowledge and being someone of importance to whom people relied on and respected. The only cost to you is that you would have acquired dignity and fine principles, which should be admired. Blimey I have gone on a bit!!! Good luck.

Read books on poise, charm, etiquette, manners, and the latest magazines on the new styles (clothing, hair, etc.). Look for pictures of what you would like to look like, and have your hair cut that way, and dress that way--if it suits your face and body.
Keep yourself informed of current events, political happenings, etc. No what the latest books on the best seller list are, know about what new movies are worth seeing, just know what is happening around you and around the world.

The best way I can think of is to quiet yourself. Stop talking...start listening. Be aware of people and situations around you. The most sophisticated people I know are reserved...and show great respect for others...

apearance - One simple and easy way to start - stay clean and groomed (specially for man), wearing clean clothes, doesn't have to be expensive but always wear something suitable to your posture and colour is important.
attitude - be gentleman and don't talk too much but still show friendly not arrogant or snob. Never get yourselved too drunk in any way.
