I have kind of a funny question. I have knew someone who used to bake their basesball glove. My son just got a new glove and it is very stiff!!! I was wondering if anyone ever heard of this and knows how to do it?

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT DO IT! It caught my golve on fire and the other time I tried it, my glove was heated and burned. Just giving you the heads up.

Whatever you do don't listen to the first guy. The only way to start your glove on fire is by being stupid. First oil or spray your glove down good. Then Place in the oven at 325 to 350 for 3 to 5 minutes depending on stiffness of leather. Pull out of the oven rub off excess oil. As soon as you feel you can place your hand inside the heated glove do so. ( I recommend a batting glove of some sorts for this part.) Once your hand is in work it a couple of times then place a baseball or softball in the pocket close the glove as if you were making a catch and tie the the glove in this position. Then let the glove sit for 4 or 5 hours. Untie the glove and work it for 30 minutes. Repeat as necessary. I find this the best way to break in gloves and people do pay me to break in and repair gloves.

Oh and one other tip, if your son finds it comfortable enough, place your pinky and ring finger in the same whole and slide your middle and index each over one to create a larger pocket in your glove. This leave the index whole open to become part of the pocket. Just an extra tip.

There is a foam spray out there you can purchase at most sporting good stores. It has a bright yellow top but I can not remember the name of the product. I have used it on my son's gloves as well as my own. You lather the glove up really well, bake it at 350 degrees for about 3 minutes, take it out, rub the excess off, work the glove and repeat to the desired softness. Works like a dream without the oiling, wrapping, and placing under the mattress for 24 hours and repeating.

use shaving cream its cheaper and does the same thing as oil. secondly never use rubber bands it forms the glove ackward. Baking is okay at low temp for a short time. shaving cream and bake the play catch as often as possible. Breaking in a glove can take months to be honest. To get the feel right for the persons hand takes a long time. Forming the pocket also takes a long time. also turn it inside out every night it stretches and loosens up the leather. just my .02

Don't bake it. But you should oil it often and just bend it around a lot. the best way to brake in a glove is to use it.

do not bake it!!! do not put any thing on it (oil, rubber bands) the best way to break in a glove is simply to use it and beat it with a bat or something. I break in a new glove ever year. I am playing AAA ball up in seattle. good luck
