You will begin to have a discomfort down there, with a lot of itching and soreness. Also, you may get a thick, foul smelling discharge.

You can get a yeast infection from numerous things, such as wearing tight pants, sex, antibiotics, some birth control pills, certain foods, pregnancy, diabetes, etc.

Most over the counter medications help treat yeast infections, such as Monistat. You can also get creams, such as Vagisil, for the outside irritation. If the over the counter medications do not work, you will have to see a gynecologist and he/she will prescribe you something stronger to treat the yeast infection.

Also, if you are sexually active, it is best to avoid sex until the yeast infection has been cured, or use a backup method such as a condom because a yeast infection can be spread to your partner and the medication you are taking may become ineffective.

Darn it! :P (Cus I didn't get first post lol!) Okay, well I started hearing about these kinds of things a while back, and I became worried, so I started looking up a lil bit on the internet. The best site I found was http://www.herpes-coldsores.com/std/yeast_infection.htm for yeast infections.

Then again, if you're too lazy to look it up, here's the direct info. I've looked at the important parts and copied and paste, just for you! Lol aren't you special. :P

This is how you can tell:

burning of the vagina
burning when urinating
discomfort during or after sexual intercourse
odor (not unpleasant)
irritation of the vagina
itching and burning of the female genitals (vulva)
itching of the vagina
painful urination
painful intercourse
vulva redness and swelling

Vaginal discharge is not always present and may be minimal, but when present may be:

cottage-cheese-like in nature
thick, whitish-gray discharge
watery to thick in consistency
Women who have chronic or recurring yeast infections may need to be treated with vaginal creams for extended periods of time

What causes it?

Yeast infections are generally caused by an organism called Candida albicans or Candidiasis and there is no direct evidence that it is passed through sexual intercourse.

Almost half of all healthy, sexually active women, and one-third of all pregnant women tested had Candida albicans which may indicate that sexual activity itself may contribute to the growth of Candida albicans.

P.S Don't freak out when you see a little yeast in that place. I usually do sometimes after my period, but I found out that it isn't a problem. At least, it isn't yeast infection if you just have a few drops of it. It's usually whitish and a little thick. Fine fine, I'll stop now. :P

P.SS You probaby don't have it but are worried. :P

P.SSS Bye lol

Usually you'll have a incredible itch, there will be discharge ranging from clear to yellowish. It could look like cottage cheese (not trying to be gross) and it might smell a little. Good news- wicked easy to treat you can go to the drug store and get a cream, but if you still have it 3-4 days from now go get checked, because it could be a different type of infection.

Yeast exists naturally in your body. A yeast a"infection" means you have too much of it. It can cause a bad odor, itching/burning feeling. The OTC topical remedies generally work, but if you have recurrent probs, see a dr.

It will smell bad and you will have a white/yellow constant discharge. At least that's how I can tell...You get it from not wearing cotton underwear, tight pants or wearing a swim suit too long. I usually get one if I don't take a shower after I work out. I guess it's the sweat! It a fungus that likes to grow in wet, dark places. It doesn't mean your not clean. That has nothing to do with it. If you think you may have one..go to your doctor. Don't be afraid it's nothing to be embarrassed about.
