its because there is a risk of a blood clot, there is a risk of it flying at a high altitude even if you have had no surgery. I always have an aspirin to keep my blood thin.

If the pins were put in May and removed by Feb, this means your hip is already healed. You should be able to fly to Fiji without any problems. Just ask to be seated where you can stretch your legs-this is usually by the door.

They say this because there is the possibility that you could develop blood clots in the leg, both from the high altitude and from the long sitting on the plane. This is a danger because blood clots in the leg, if loosened, can travel up through the vasculature to the heart, lungs or brain, which can lead to a very unpopular medical condition known of as death.
Sorry for the morbidity. I just feel it is important to be clear on these things.

Untrue, lies. I had hip replacement surgery last March and 3 weeks later flew to Vegas. Have a good time in Fiji.

I don't know. I'm not so sure that's correct. It doesn't even make sense. I mean, if you had surgery on your wing, I could see how that would affect your ability to fly, but you leg? Could affect your landings, I guess.
My want to check with your doctor. Just call the office and ask.
Good Luck!

Check with the airlines and your doctors but usually that is to reduce your chances of developing blood clots. It may still workout if you have a medical note saying that it is o.k.

I had surgery two years ago and got clearance to fly two weeks after surgery....
Is it because the surgery was on your leg....? If so, fly 1st class and elevate your leg

i travelled less than 3 mths after broken leg by plane, it makes your legs ache and i think your more prone to deep vein thrombosis, dont sit for too long, and you can get flight socks to wear, if its not too sore of course
