recently joined a new gym where they give you heart rate monitors. I'm 25 and just doing my normal exercise my heart rate gets up to 200. I was told i would die if it went over 195 so i'm puzzled. don't feel any different. should i see a doctor or is this just post christmas unfitness and will get better if I carry on as normal?

At your age 195 bpm is about your maximum (the rule of thumb is your maximum heart rate is 220- your age) You won't die if you go over 195 but you probably won't be able to get it very much higher
Exercising at your maximum should feel very strenuous. If you are experiencing chest pains or dizziness you should stop.

im sure everything is fine but its better safe than sorry,i dont know anything about the heart rate speed but it seems to be a concern, your best bet would be to see a doctor and relieve your mind
