1 m ³ = 1 x 1 x 1 m ³

1m ³ = 10² x 10² x 10² cm ³

But 1 litre = 10³ cm ³ and therefore:-

1m ³ = (10² x 10² x 10²) / 10³ litres

1 m ³ = 10³ litres = 1000 litres

1 Liter = 10cm x 10 cm x 10cm = 1000 cubic centimeters (c^3)

1 cubic meter (m^3) = 100cm x 100cm x 100cm =1,000,000 (c^3)

1,000,000 (c^3) / 1,000 (c^3) = X Liters / 1 (m^3) = 1,000 L

Hope that helps.
