I used to work for a corrupt debt collection company.

They are scaremongering the debtors and saying that they will send solicitors letters... the main manager is making it look to the debtors that he is a solictor.... I have never heard him say a legal term while I was there or go to court!

This company are claming to send solicitors letters when they do not have solictiors!

If you are a true solicitor, when you send out letters, you charge for them dont you?

What do you think?

yes solicitors do charge to send letters and yes debt companies do say things to frighten people into paying but that doesn't really make them corrupt

yes a Solicitor would send a letter, in fact it is normally any outstanding debt the client is always informed that their debt will be going to a direct legal department who will then nominate the company solicitor to send a letter requesting immediate payment. The company will probably only use a debt collecting agency should there be no response from the solicitor. Bailiffs!!

I may be old fashioned but I think people should honour their debts. There are a number of solicitors who will send out a chasing letter for £2 in UK. But in this day and age you can send out a final letter yourself and put a writ on them via the internet and save the two quid

it will be a scam if it really is an unrequested letter. in case you probably did not agree this cost with the solicitor, they could't cost you this quantity. If notwithstanding, they're appearing on behalf of a consumer (e.g. chasing you for a debt), they could upload their cost to the debt you owe their client in some circumstances in case you've before received stepped ahead written caution about this.

the business may have a standard collection letter that was prepared by a lawyer. They can simply fill in the blanks (persons name , amount owed ,etc) and send them out.

It would be a straightforward demand for payment, and probably would say that legal action will result if not paid in a set period.

I believe the client has to pay for the letter. However, I have come across such people and it makes me made because I have paid such folks only to find out that the people I owed didn't get the money.
