Have you read the latest about the unacceptable conditions of the Medical Center by the new Defense Secretary Robert Gates. Rumsfeld should be held accountable for this outrage and legally processed and thrown in the can.

Anyone who has ever been to a VA hospital will tell you it's either good or bad. They are understaffed, undersupplied, under everything, and this isn't a new development, it is a disgrace that has been going on for decades. Why is everything either repub. or dems. fault? This is everyone's fault. This didn't happen over night. Maybe we should be bipartisan for once and get the job done, for the people who have sacrificed so much for our country. Did anyone ever think it's Congress' fault? After all they are the ones who really hold the purse strings. Maybe instead of adding pork barrel spending on bills for pools and such they should put that money to use for the troops.

Care for our soldiers and veterans has Always been spotty. Once the government has gotten what they need - a warm body carrying a gun - our soldiers are essentially throw-aways.
Starting with the Revolutionary War through today, the government will not 'waste' money on injured troops (remember Agent Orange?) when they can use that money on another young grunt.
It's a moral outrage. My dad was a veteran and after he retired, I saw the gov't renege time after time on the promises they had made when he entered. And he had no voice or choice. It was a take-it-or-leave-it offer. Of course, this was after he had been in Pearl Harbour and numerous other Pacific battles.

If our troops are lacking a thing it could only be from the Democrats cutting military spending BEFORE a Republican took office . Our troops should have everything they need NO MATTER WHAT ! Even now , with troops on the battlefield Democrats cut down every proposal .

This is just an extension of the class warfare that defines a capitalist society. Why would the ruling elite have any more respect for the soldiers that they used in pursuit of global domination than they do for the workers here and around the world that they abuse as they create their wealth? That great wealth doesn't come from "caring" about the troops or the working class. It comes from the using of the underclass in pursuit of policies that enrich themselves.
