~ My precious Ellie...

~ The points let you know how much your brain nurons are growing...

~ You only have one hundred billion or so neurons... and these are linked to as many as ten thousand others.

~ Each answer you give, makes at least one hundred of the neurons travel to a thousand others as you think of the proper answer... as you search your brain for the answers, more and more neurons are used... as you search the www for answers...your brain absorbs more 'input' ... the nuron paths increase... AS DO YOUR POINTS... WELL DESERVED TOO, I MIGHT ADD.

~ Then, when you vote... half of the neurons are used compared to the answering part, because you have to try to remember how you answered the question... But, the good news is that your brain's activity is growing more as you read the good-bad-ugly responses... then JOY... you found your own answer and vote for yourself... a shot of adrenelan comes to you as you realize your the only one to vote so far.

~ Then, you receive an email from Yahoo... you've won a BEST ANSWER to a question... Wow... you click on the question to see if it was a winning vote from the ASKER or by the VOTERS. Just knowing you got another 10 points, boosts your morale and your mind says... I need more BEST ANSWERS... I'm really doing some good for the WORLD!

~ Have courage, Ellie... it's all in exercise of the grey matter... something to keep us of of drugs and booze...

~ But, remember, the very center of the Bible tells us the truth: Read Psalm 118:8.

I have been invited to Yahoo sponsored events, and been awarded Yahoo!Answers awards (see the picture/avatar). I have received many Yahoo!Answers souvenirs, such t-shirts, sweatshirt, stickers, and a jacket. I attended the Yahoo!Answers birthday party, including a complimentary motel room. I have been a featured user in Y!A blogs throughout the world, and I now have blog friends and contacts in every time zone in the entire world.

All of this came about because I answered lots of questions and helped hundreds (or maybe thousands) of people, while accumulating thousands of points.

You get to trade them in for expensive appliances and vehicles like plasma TVs, jet skis and Segway scooters!

But seriously, they are worthless, unless you value being able to answer more questions and have more points than the next person.

When you reach level 7 (whoop de doo) you get an email saying "Thanks for Participating!" Try not to faint from excitement when this happens.

They're like the currency around here. Takes points to answer questions, and if you have a certain amount of points you can answer a certain amount of questions.

just a way of keeping track in regards to participation. the more you answer the more points you get but each time you ask a question it deducts 5 points.

I think they want to make it like a game. You can see how much you answered. And it does prompt you to answer more than you ask if you're competitive.

Nothing at all. Y/A is for insight, and learning, and sometimes just fun.
