HE WOULD SURELY BEEN A GOOD CHOISE AND WOULD HAVE PROVEN TO BE A VERY GOOD PLAYER IN THE WORLD CUP. I WOULD NOT SAY WHO WAS A BAD CHOISE BAT NOT SELECTING LAXMAN WAS BAD POLITICS BY SELECTORS, JUST FOR AGUMENY SAKE WHAT AS SHEWAG DONE FOR SO LONG INSPITE OF GIVEN SO MANY CHANCES.

You said you wouldn't say any names but then you questioned sehwag's selection, not a man of words are you? just kidding. I agree, Sehwag has been nothing more than a liability for India lately, and he proved by getting run out the way he did in the last match that he doesn't deserve to be in any world cup squad. But now they have selected him I only hope that he proves all of us wrong and gets some runs in the main event.

While Laxman is a very class and stylish batsman, selectors thought his style of play is not well suited for One Day matches as he is a slow atarter and a slow fielder.

Sehwag has been selected even with his poor form just because
selectors have confidence that he will regain his form before the world cup starts and when he is in good form he can demoralise any bowling attack in the world and is capable of scoring runs at a faster rate. Further, he can also be used as a bowler and he can stop flow of runs and even take wickets at times.

Well there is no doubt about the batting abilities of laxman.
But the reason he hasnt been picked for the worldcup is that, India is now having a problem of plenty.
he doesnt fit into the lineup now, infact india might have to play one out of uthappa and sehwag isnt it?
see, if u play pathan at no.7 then india and only pick 6 batsman, which are sachin, sourav, dravid, yuvraj, dhoni and the 6th would be b/w uthappa and sehwag.
there isnt any place of other batsman left.
Well u cant compare sehwag and laxman.
Both diff. kind of batsman.
laxman is defensive thus more a test player
sehwag is aggreasive thus more a one day player

sehwag have the ability to take the game away, when he gets going isnt it? he's a threat to any team
but in case of laxman there is nothing like that, but he is a very good batsman, no doubt about it.

I think he lost his berth because he is not proved good in opening the innings in ODI .He is an exceptionally talented middle order batsman .But Indian worry was finding a suitable opening pair which can see through the first ten overs with out losing wicket and maintaining a steady rate of scoring. Laxman requires a few overs to settle down. The second factor which must have weighed against him is his utility in other departments of the game like bowling, fielding, running between the wickets etc. It is tough that the decision swung against him.

Do not you think, you have answered it yourself by saying, I do not know in whose place. Your example for Sehwag is a good one and I do not think, any one has answer to that. Fail to understand why he is being chosen, when he kept failing time and again.
However, as far as Laxman is concerned, one has to accept that he is extremely talented and gifted player, but is very slow and poor in running between the wickets. He is extremely outstanding closing fielder but a poor outfield fielder. Looking to this, he can not be part of ODI team and unfortunately not getting any younger also.

The main reason of dropping Laxman is the bad politics of Greig Chappel, supported by Rahul "Chamach" Dravid.

you are right friend,

laxaman is really a great classical player of wrist.
i remember his knok with rahul dravid in kolkata in 2001 of 281 run an all time best inning by any indian test batsman. he should be included in the w/c squiad. he is a promising middile order batsman and a great slip fielder.

thanks

see dude, i fell vengsarkar did a very cool thing by not including him....although he is a ery fine player but see yaar, he is too slow......the teams we hae to face- Australia, newzeland, england, srilanks, southafrica.....they all have got some very fine players man....flintoff, collingwood, gilchrest, hayden, hussey, fleming, mcmillan, jaysuria etc etc....we must have quality players who are gud in all departments and also play fast...thats why u must hae seen that india has righlty selected UTTHAPA and SEHWAG. although sehwag'g form is bad, but the moment it improves he fires......i say that LAXMAN is a gem for just test cricket..........
