I had a baby 13 months ago and breastfed, so I didn't get my period until a few months ago, but just spotted here and there irregularly. I just got my first true period since having my baby yesterday and today it is SO HEAVY that I have to change my pad EVERY HOUR!!!! Should I be worried that it's so heavy????

That is common after haveing a baby your uterus has a thick linning that it is sheading, but if it happens for a long period of time I would see your doctor as you may have a blood disorder called........von Williebrand........its when your blood doent clot properly.it can be hard to diagnose, but easy to treat.

Yes, since you didn't start having regular periods you could have gotten pregnant again ( it happens ALOT) and you could be having a miscarriage. You need to call a Dr. right away, this is not normal. If this is not a miscarriage you could have a medical condition that caused the lapse in menstrual periods such a uterine fibroid or endometrosis. No matter what the cause you are bleeding too much, you don't want to bleed to death. Call the Dr. or go to the hosptial.

I wouldn't worry just yet. See how long it lasts. If its like an average period then hopefully next month won't be as bad. sometimes after having a baby a woman's cycle can be altered from the way it was prior to conception. Your body is probably just readjusting back. I wouldn't be too concerned too soon.
