Anything by Nora Roberts - these here are great reads:
Northern Lights
Chesapeake Blue
Angels Fall
Also check out (on the web) Romance Writers of America and The Romantic Times for some great book tips.
Savannah Blues by Mary Kay Andrews is a great read. It's a chick lit novel with a gutsy heroine who falls in love with a hunky chef in, you guessed it, Savannah.
Army or military related?
Try anything by Suzanne Brockmann. She writes about Navy Seals (e.g. Into the Night or Into the Storm). You'll love her books if you're looking for military -related novels with strong romance.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen!! If you want a modern take on it, read 'Bridget Jones's Diary' by Helen Fielding.
'Emma' by Jane Austen is also good. Its the basis for the movie 'Clueless'
Memoirs of a Geisha.
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. or A Walk to Remember.
Of you want light reading, Sophie Kinsella's books are funny.
if you want to read historical romance, check out Julie Garwood's highlander books (set in the Scottish Highlands) or Judith McNaught

Oh my gosh! This has to be the perfect book for this question. It takes place during World War II and describes the changing world of a young girl and her grandson sixty years later. This book is so awesome, and a great love story too. It is called, "Postcards to No Man's Land." PLEASE READ IT! I don't know who wrote it though... sorry.

This is a bit cliched, but I don't think there's a better romance the Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice." An oldie, but goodie!
