miami will win the acc...randy shannon is an excellent coach, and as bad as the canes were last year, they bring back almost everyone of importance on offense, and their defense just reloads year after year...florida state will contend also, and clemson and wake forest will be there in the end
michigan will win the big 10...they return henne, hart, manningham, arrington on offense, plus the majority of their line as well, even though they lose some talent on defense...they will hang a ton of points on a lot of teams this year...the only teams, i think, that can contend for the title with them in this conference are penn state and wisconsin
texas will win the big 12...mccoy returns, as does jamaal charles and the majority of their receivers, although they, like michigan, suffer some key losses on the defensive side...they will be a very similar team to michigan in that they will score lots of points, but perhaps give up a lot at times also...texas a&m is pretty good, and my sleeper is texas tech, they score at will
west virginia will win the big east...white and slaton both are back, and they will be two of the heisman frontrunners going into this season...they will be more experienced on the defensive side and are one of the best all-around teams in the nation...however, they have a tough conference, as i think louisville and rutgers are both top 20 teams
usc will win the pac-10...they bring back booty and their entire complement of RBs, OL, and their whole defense with an exception or two...they have the best coach and recruiter in college football in pete carroll and will be too good to stop on their road to a national title
florida will win the sec...i think tebow is ready to take control of this offense, and with him, kestahn moore, and percy harvin getting the occasional carry, this team will be dominant on the ground...they have holes to fill on defense, but they had superb depth this past year and those guys who were in limited roles should be ready to step to the plate this year

1. the preseason rankings are based on AP polls through media outlets. the coaches will each vote starting week 3.. it really is a popularity contest with some basis on last years results. the BCS is completely based on a computer algorithm of calculations of supposedly record, strength of schedule and other factors, conference wins vs non conference wins, ranked wins and other factors.. it is controversial and no one really knows the formula so they feel a playoff system should be implemented. 2. pac 10, SEC, big 10, big 12 and ACC are the biggest, there are some minor conferences (such as Sunbelt conference) and independent conferences/schools as well, mostly the biggest schools/games are from the 5 conferences mentioned (barring Notre Dame which is independent but makes the headlines alot). The conferences with championship games are the SEC, Big 12, and ACC the winners of the two divisions within each conference (such as SEC west and SEC east) will battle for the overall Conference championship. 3. there are many many bowls, they are debatable on which ones are major or not, like some will say the sugar and fiesta bowls are big, but most will agree the Orange bowl and Rose bowl are two of the biggest. An at "large team" is a team that made a bowl based on invitation and not through the BCS listing.. say a team played well, but came from a smaller conference or was a smaller school and the BCS didn't pick them to go to a bowl game, a committee (i believe) acknowledges their efforts by offering them a spot in a bowl game, basically bypassing the BCS.. this happens more in Basketball where teams that didn't earn the right to be in the tournament are awarded spots, but it can also happen in other sports. It would be compared to a wild card spot in professional sports from my understanding. The BCS championship is a (technical) bowl game pitting the top two teams in the BCS standings against each other to determine the best overall NCAA college football team. 4. there are 12 games.. the 13 total comes from the twelve and a bowl game and the 14 total comes from the 12 plus conference championship and a bowl game.

Let's see:
ACC: Boston College
This clearly is a toss up because the ACC was just WEIRD last year.
Big 12: Texas
I think a healthy Colt McCoy is one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the nation.
Big East: Louisville
Even with Kragethorpe at the helm, he runs a similar offense to Petrino and Heisman hopeful Brian Brohm made the decision to come back. He also has all his top targets from last year.
Big Ten: Wisconsin
We have a OSU team with no Troy Smith and no Ted Ginn Jr. The only reason Wisconsin didn't make the BCS was because of the 2 team rule in the BCS (OSU and Michigan won out). And Wisconsin is bringing everyone back.
Pac-10: USC
I don't see anyone in the Pac-10 beating USC out for the top spot in the conference. Cal might come close, but again will fall short.
SEC: Florida
Even with Tim Tebow filling in some big shoes, Florida will be successful. Arkansas will give them a run for their money with McFadden. Then again this is the SEC, where more then half of their teams pulled Top 10 recruiting classes this year. Fun fun.
***And even though, the WAC is by no means a "major" conference, there is a fairly good chance you will see a team out of their conference in a BCS bowl due to the rule changes from last year (a team ranked in the top 12, not from a major conference, gets an automatic at-large bid to the BCS). I look for Hawaii to trump Boise State this time around with Colt Brennan and his offense. Last year they only lost by a TD to Boise. Also in the end of season poll Hawaii is sitting at #26.

sec- LSU - Gators will be tough, but Tebow not ready.
Big ten- Michigan
Big 12- Texas- OK will push them, though.
Big east- West Virginia
Pac Ten- Is there more than 1 good team in this conference? I won't even answer because EVERYONE should have the same answer.
ACC- Clemson/then fsu, va tech, wake, miami.
Nat Champ- West Va vs USC (with Michigan losing once) and no Big East or Pac 10 Champ. Game. USC (even though I hate them and if they played in the sec the last 5 years they would have 0 nat. champs.) Yes, they can win a game against anyone, but week in and week out, they play patsies who don't push them, thus they rest better and injure less.

I think Penn State will win the Big Ten if there offense is good, they play Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Notre Dame at home. Michigan is the only difficult away game.
