TEXAS always tops! Every other state (or country) just isn't as great! We're just waiting for that frozen barren Alaska to melt before we become the biggest state again. We are the best, most incredible, vibrant, friendliest COUNTRY in the world!

Second: N. Carolina. Beautiful--love the fall foliage and the snow-covered mountains in winter. Charlotte and Raleigh have great vibes. The coast is incredible. Gotta love the Tarheel State!

Third: California. Is it liberal? Lord, yes. But, I used to live there, and I didn't think it was so bad. I still love visiting. Outside of the leftist cities, it's really a beautiful and diverse state! Great colleges, but HIGH taxes.

Last: Kentucky, for it to be so economically and educationally dismal, the people are very cold, sour, and think they are "special" (like "white trash with money!") The horse farms are beautiful. But, the eastern KY mountains are not pretty at all after fall foliage; in fact, they are really quite trashy. Yuck!

Being a native, I love Texas, but (please don't strike me dead for this) I think I like Utah even better. It is sooooo beautiful with the majestic mountains. It is a very family-friendly environment and I can't imagine raising my kids anywhere else.

Still, I miss the southern hospitality, the uber-friendly people and the etiquitte of the south (ma'am, sir). Oh, and the trees. People think Texas is dry and barren. Quite the opposite is true.

Love North Carolina and California. Never been to Kentucky.
I also love southern Florida.

California is undoubtedly the best. The only civilized part of Texas is Austin, and everywhere else is the South. Eveybody knows that good looking and/or intelligent people leave the South as soon as they are able. That's what Anna Nicole Smith did and she wasn't even that smart, by California Standards. However, I am sure that by Southern standards she was some sort of genius!

California, Texas, Kentucky then N Carolina. I don't really have a good reason for that order.

I'm from North Carolina, so of course the only problem I had with your list is that we're not number one (just kidding :P) But seriously, I'm glad you liked our state. What part of the coast did you go to?? The OBX or some other part??

No offense, but no matter how much Alaska melts, Texas will ALWAYS be smaller, in size, in heart and in spirit!
